Freddie Lloyd, aged 20, is a young filmmaker and multi-instrumentalist from Herefordshire/Worcester.

Ursine Vulpine consists of Electric and Acoustic Guitars, Bass, Flute, Violin, Piano, Drums and occasionally Brass, all of which, until recently, are played and recorded by Freddie himself. Film is one of the major influences for Ursine Vulpine and so every track attempts to capture the structures, emotions and the powerful visuals of film, using interwoven layers of instrumentation. Soundtracks for films are a source of major inspiration and composing for film is something Ursine Vulpine, and Freddie, fully intends to progress onto.

Musical influences include Godspeed You! Black Emperor, A Silver Mt Zion, Talons, Horse Feathers, Peter Broderick, Olafur Arnalds, M83, Alexandre Desplat, Clint Mansell, James Newton Howard Hans Zimmer, Jeff Grace, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, Shiro Sagisu, Akira Yamaoka and Nobuo Uemastu.

Stagecoach melt faces at fifty paces with junk-pop juggernauts about pizzas, chess leagues, and Buffy.

Huw Stephens span their single 'Map To The Freezer' exhaustively on both his Radio 1 shows. He then invited the band to play the BBC Introducing stage at Reading & Leeds 2010, before naming Stagecoach one of his BBC Introducing acts of the year. In February the band recorded a live Radio One session at Maida Vale. You may have heard Stagecoach on BBC One's ‘Gavin and Stacey’ Christmas & New Year specials. Channel 4 also used them on season 2 of ‘Skins’. Two of the band’s tracks feature on the international trailer for this year’s breakout British comedy ‘Killing Bono’

The band recently toured with indie heroes Johnny Foreigner and Glaswegian rockers Twin Atlantic. Stagecoach’s new AA single ‘Tony Hawk/Jonah Lomu’ (producer James Kenosha – Pulled Apart By Horses/Dinosaur Pile-Up) was released on May 30th through This is Fake DIY, and the band are now striding gallantly through the Summer's festival circuit, with dates at The Great Escape, Dot To Dot, 2000 Trees, Kendal Calling and many more.

Nicholas Stevenson was found as a child wandering a North American wood on all fours. Taken in by a research team, they found him at first incapable of speech with a preference for wild berries and certain mosses. With time he began making occasional drawings and hummed tunes whilst pounding on a xylophone that the research team had presented him with. As Nicholas grew up he became polite and well spoken and was subsequently adopted by some fine folks in England. He remembers little of his days in the woods, although he once found himself able to hold conversation with a Raccoon in London Zoo.

Nicholas has played shows in places (some far across the sea), and supported such artists as, and supported such artists as Mumford and Sons, Frank Turner, Chief, Alessi's Ark and a run of dates with Dry The River.

Stagecoach sign to Reprise Publishing

We are delighted to announce Stagecoach have signed to Reprise Publishing.

The band have already had a very successful couple of years with syncs on the final two Gavin and Stacey episodes, Skins, the trailer for Killing Bono, Eurosport's coverage of the World Cycling Championships, and multiple Eastenders episodes recently. After being screened as part of the British Kinematograph, Sound and Television Society showcase at the BFI on London's south bank back in July, the beautiful video for 'The Constant' by Ursine Vulpine is being screened as part of the BBC Music Video Festival. The video is one of just 12 promos chosen from hundreds of entries, and appears alongside videos for much higher profile artists including King Creosote, Slow Club, First Aid Kit and Wiley.

Ursine Vulpine is the moniker for 19 year-old composer and film maker Frederick Lloyd, and the video was made originally as coursework for his university course the University of Farnham, where he studies film making, as is about to enter his third year.

Describing the film, Frederick said: 'The Constant is a mixture of human emotion, memory and environment and how each as affected me on a personal level. It is about the home I grew up in and the landscape that surrounds it, making it an idyllic and beautiful, yet, isolated and enclosed environment to grow up in; one that I both love and hate for those reasons. It's about wanting to leave, but wanting to stay and how it will always be a part of me. As this was an individual project, I made and scored the film entirely myself.'

'The Constant' will feature as part of the main selection of 12 videos that will be screened nationally on 20 Big Screens in 20 different cities across the UK, including Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds, Cardiff and, of course, London. The main showing will be at the Forum in Norwich, which happens to have the largest permanant digital screen in Europe.

Stagecoach Support The Devil!

Stagecoach have been confirmed as main support to Boots Electric, the solo project for Eagles Of Death Metal singer Jesse 'The Devil' Hughes at London's XOYO venue in London on Monday.

Along with this weekend's Southsea Festival and the Underground Festival the following weekend, these will make up the band's last shows probably for the rest of the year.

We're delighted to announce we're teaming up with Risk and Consequence, an awesome 'zine to form a kind of brother/sister company. We'll be managing bands and releasing records, they'll be putting on sweet shows and running the zine (which will also now have a web presence).

The full press release is below, but we're really excited about this, and have been working on it for the last few weeks. With this being the case, we're looking for new bands to work with on the label front, and they're looking for new writers, so get in touch!

Oxford-based music management company and independent record label Idle Hands Club has announced a new venture, teaming up with Nottingham-based ‘zine Risk and Consequence. It will see the two form a powerful DIY alliance involving band management, record releases, show promotion and a regular print ‘zine alongside a web ‘zine counterpart.

Idle Hands Club currently manage hotly tipped bands Tall Ships and Stagecoach amongst others. Their artists have supported world-renowned acts such as Jimmy Eat World and We Are Scientists, have numerous radio plays including ‘in session at Maida Vale’ for Radio 1, have had their music on Eastenders, Skins, Gavin and Stacey and more, and have played a ton of festivals including Reading and Leeds, and End of the Road.

The Idle Hands Club record label is just getting started, but already boasts releases from the likes of Nicholas Stevenson, the enigmatic Ursine Vulpine, and the sold-out second album from Bayonets.

Having promoted 150 shows under the Idle Hands Club name, with an eclectic mix of bands such as Mumford and Sons, Pete Doherty, Los Campesinos!, Glasvegas, Pulled Apart By Horses and Rolo Tomassi to name a few, the baton is passed over to Risk & Consequence, who will continue the promoting side of things in London, Reading, Oxford, and Cheltenham.

Risk and Consequence will be re-launching their free, quarterly ‘zine, and stocking it at all the best independent record stores and DIY shows over the country from October onwards.

Expect beautiful illustration, comical insight, thoughtful features and interviews; the ‘zine will cover anything and everything from music and film to cookery and stories written by editor Kaylea’s 12 year old niece.

As well as a stunning print offer, Risk & Consequence will also finally be going online. The new site will allow you to access the latest news, reviews, features, competitions, video sessions and a podcast, as well as listings and tickets to all of the Risk & Consequence shows. Basically, plenty of things to keep your appetite under control until you can get your hands on the print ‘zine.

Officially this all kicks off on 1st October, but the partnership is already hard at work. The first few Risk and Consequence shows will be announced very shortly, and there will also be a Risk and Consequence stage at Gloucester’s free Underground Festival in September.

Stagecoach Mandolin Sells In Charity Auction

Chop from Stagecoach's mandolin was yesterday sold in the Big Scary Monsters charity auction to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund (part of Cancer Research UK).

The mandolin sold for £185, which is great.

Nicholas Stevenson will be unveiling his first exhibition as an artist this Sunday in Worcester. He says...

The Tiger's Face is an exhibition of Illustrations, paintings, prints and something special I’ve been sewing…

It’s at The Worcester Arts Workshop hosted by Clik Clik Collective in their neat cellar gallery. The opening evening will be on Sunday July 3rd from 3.00 until 7.00pm, there’ll be live music from myself of course, but also my pal Oliver Wilde, Richard Clarke and a band called Bella in the Wych Elm.

Here’s a little bit more about the show:

My recent paintings are visited frequently by an elongated tiger-like beast, a beast which is just as frequently obscured by the dream like landscapes it inhabits. In these works I am attempting to recreate one of my favourite sensations. The unnamed feeling you get from spotting a distant object on a beach, looking more bewildering and terrifying as you stroll towards it. Old boat? Driftwood? Giant Squid? Body? Or maybe the sensation of looking in to an empty cage at the zoo; the sign with the latin name is present, so something must be in there somewhere, but where?

Hope you can make it along and maybe I’ll let you see the tiger’s face…

Stagecoach have unveiled the music video for their new single. It was premiered this week exclusively on NME.com. The video, directed by award-winning director and all-round nice guy James Sharpe, shows the band trying to break the Guinness World Record for eating pizza in the fastest time possible.

Talons Announce Japanese Album Release

Talons will have their first Japanese release next month as Xtal Records release a bumper version of their debut album 'Hollow Realm', complete with most of the band's recorded material prior to the album.

New PEACE Video / Shows

After making their London debut two weeks ago at the Bull and Gate, PEACE are quick to return with two shows in quick succession. Well, one 'proper' show and a DJ set.

First up, the guys will be DJing Fuck The Whiteboard's 'Anti Royal Wedding Party' at Old Blue Last on Friday. Info about that one here. It's a pretty hot ticket, with the likes of Trophy Wife, Flats, Visions of Trees and O Children all DJing too.

Then the band play live at O Children's first ever club night at The Macbeth a few days later. Info on that bad boy here. Again, this looks like a cool and happening evening.

Stagecoach Announce New Single!

Really pleased to be able to finally tell you the new AA side Stagecoach single 'Jonah Lomu / Tony Hawk' will be out 30th May on This Is Fake DIY Records.

The single was recorded with the band's long-time collaborator James Kenosha, and is arguably their strongest work yet.

The band have also confirmed a load more festivals, and will be announcing headline tour around the single release shortly

The single will be available as a CD/Digital with the physical coming in two versions - a basic DVD case, with computer game artwork, and a bumper pizza box edition with stickers, a poster and some extra goodies we're still working on!

New Nicholas Stevenson Single / Video

In celebration of this year’s Record Store Day, which takes place on Saturday 16th April, Nicholas Stevenson will be releasing an exclusive track via Cheltenham folk label ‘IStartedTheFire Records,’ home to rising act Jim Lockey & the Solemn Sun. The track, titled ‘Can You Bring a Camera?’ will be released on hand-numbered postcards illustrated by Nicholas himself, and limited to only 100 copies. Each postcard will come with its own unique download code. As if this wasn’t enough, Nicholas will also be doing a number of in-store appearances throughout the weekend, but starting with a solo support slot for New Wave pioneer Ian McCulloch of Echo and the Bunnymen on Friday 15th April at Gloucester’s Guildhall.

New Tall Ships Single/Video

Tall Ships have announced details of a new single. 'Plate Tectonics', taken from their EP 'There Is Nothing But Chemistry Here' will be released tomorrow (Monday 4th April) as a digital download. They'll also be offering free screenprints to the first 50 people to order via their web store here.

The single has already been featured in this week's NME, in the 'On Repeat' section (formerly Top 10 Tracks You Have To Hear This Week, which Tall Ships were also in. Top tracks makes much more sense as a title in our opinion) and was also jointly reviewed by the geniously absurd combo of Andrew WK and X Factor cretin Olly Murs in this month's first issue of the This Is Fake DIY mag - see here (page 93).

Stagecoach Update

Stagecoach have also been busy writing and recording recently, taking a break to record a Maida Vale session for Huw Stephens, and to support Los Campesinos! at their NME Awards tour warm-up show, and The Futureheads at New Slang. Check out Luke's diary from Maida Vale at Punktastic here.

We'll be announcing details of the next Stagecoach release very soon, possibly next week, along with details of a London headline show for the summer. The single is an absolute belter.

Show-wise, the band are playing Jumping Ships single launch in Brighton on Thursday and will be premiering a bunch of new songs. They've also been announced for a few festivals including Live At Leeds, Southport Rocks, Two Thousand Trees and Y-Not. There will be a bunch of tour dates along with the single, so stay tuned for that.

Ute Update

Things have been progressing nicely for Ute over the past couple of weeks. After playing the first ever weekender for Oxford's hipster collective Blessing Force, the band were invited to play this year's Green Man Festival! (I know, right?!)

The band play their first UK tour dates later this month:

Nicholas Update

Nicholas Stevenson has announced a couple of shows this week. He'll be opening for Echo and the Bunnymen frontman Ian McCulloch at Gloucester Guildhall on 15th April, playing as part of the ISTF/Two Thousand Trees all-dayer in Cheltenham on 8th May, then actually playing Two Thousand Trees Festival in July.

Whilst there will be a more 'traditional' release in the not too distant future, Nicholas has launched a free monthly audio zine, the first of which is called 'Dead Arm' and can be streamed over at This Is Fake DIY. As well as the stream, This Is Fake DIY have a free copy of Nicholas' album 'Phantom Sweetheart' and a T-shirt to give away. You can also buy a copy of the zine on tape via Nicholas' web site.

Tall Ships Update

Tall Ships have been very busy over the last few weeks, mostly writing their debut album, but also playing their second stint in Europe.

The band's debut EP (self-titled) has just sold out it's third pressing, and the fourth and final pressing is being done this week (copies 750-1000, a fantastic achievement). Both EPs will be released on Monday as an exclusive iTunes release for a special bundle price.

Plate Tectonics will be released as digital single on 4th April with 2 remix b-sides. The band will be giving exclusive free screen prints to the first 25 people to order through the band's webstore.

A Body Parts (AKA Shoes And Socks Off) remix of 'Chemistry' will appear on the Pink Mist 12" compilation released on Record Store Day. If you're thinking 'WTF is Pink Mist?!', you should probs look here.

The band are playing Huw Stephens' night at The Social in London on 12th April, and will be touring the UK in May with Three Trapped Tigers. Dates below. Having come to the end of the year, it's time for a bit of a label band round up. Including what happened, where they are now, and what's going to happen in the future for each of our lot.

Unfortunately I've (Myles) been a bit slack doing this post and by now I suspect we may be a week and a bit into the New Year. Joe will probably also take a while to read it too.. But hey, it's fine as long as it's not February yet, right?

First up we released our good friend Nicolas Stevenson - The Aeroplane Darling - after a physical only release we decided to test the waters with a digital one to give all the lovely people who had missed out the first time a chance to hear it.

After getting him onto a wonderful US Indie Podcast he's had some extensive listening by many this year - which was good preparation for his latest release Phantom Sweetheart on Hilldrop Records, something which you should all check out HERE! You can also check one of his latest sessions below;

Vietwow! The band that came seriously along in a real serious way of seriousness. Having heard the demos and having them repeat themselves for days in my ears it wouldn't have been right not to welcome these guys into the family.

Releasing a double AA single in 5.25inch Floppy Disk, and playing only their 2nd show at New Slang with Hot Club De Paris gears these lot up for 2011.

Hopefully a tour in the spring is on the cards for these boys, with several of the members touring with their other bands too! (namely HYMNS and Shoes and Socks off)

Wot Gorilla? bundled onto the scene after an impressive year. Catching our attention early on and then having us chomping at the bit after their Reading and Leeds performance on the BBC Introducing stage.

Recording their new EP with James Kenosha of many an awesome bands fame, ‘New Arrival’ came out in early December after an awesome little collaboration between ACDSleeve and illustrator Adrian Dutt to create some super special artwork to go with it. These boys should hopefully be hitting a town near you soon in the Spring with some tunes to blow your ears off.

Stagecoach Announce Twin Atlantic Tour, Bravery Support, And Digital Single

Stagecoach have announced a run of shows next week with Twin Atlantic. They will also support The Bravery at their final residency show at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen in February.

To coincide with the Twin Atlantic dates, the band will release a digital-only single 'Hieroglypics'.

The single will be released on 31st January, and features remixes from producer James Kenosha and Ex Planes.

New Team Member: Tom!

We're delighted to welcome another team member to the Idle Hands stable, in the form of Tom Clough. He'll be working on the management side of things, alongside Joe, mainly working on Nicholas Stevenson.

Tom's journey into the music industry started at the tender age of 15, where he ran the now defunct Drive-Thru Records UK street team (R.I.P.,) as well as promoting small shows in his hometown. He decided to fuse together hands on experience with an education, and has just graduated with a degree in Music Management. During his time at University, Tom has interned for many noteworthy players in the industry. This includes the ever so awesome Full Time Hobby / Hassle Records, Warner Music Group, The Orchard and Chuff Media.

Tall Ships in Ones To Watch for 2011 lists

Tall Ships are featured in two 'Ones to Watch' lists, which is nice (although grammatically awful).

First up it's music/film/arts site The 405.

They're in some very good company indeed, joined by no brainers James Blake and Dry The River.

Check the full list here and grab a free download album featuring choons from most of the list.

They're also on the Alter The Press! list, again in good, if slightly heavier company. The ATP list is newer bands like Blitz Kids and Straight Lines, joined by bands making their comeback in 2011 like Blink 182 and (ahem) The Bloodhound Gang. See the list here.

Idle Hands Bands Dominate Punktastic Compilation!

Punktastic have released the first in a new series of digital download compilations from them called Off The Rails. There will be four volumes, and it comes in an Oyster card wallet (obviously).

OK, Stagecoach next.

Firstly, the band were featured on the NME Daily Download just before Christmas. So head there, and you can pick up a copy of the band's recent single 'Not Even Giles (Would Say We'll Be OK)' for free.

The band's EP 'Crash My Ride' was featured in a couple of the Punktastic team's EPs of the year. Check that here.

Stagecoach have three shows announced so far for 2011. These are:

06/01 - Kingston, Alcopop! Presents: New Slang
01/02 - Gloucester Guildhall w/ Los Campesinos!
17/02 - Kingston, New Slang w/ The Futureheads

The band also head to Maida Vale on 2nd Feb to record a session for Radio 1. Expect a ton more dates to be announced shortly, as we have some things in the pipeline...

Talons News Round-Up

Talons have been majorly busy over the last two months. Following the release of their debut album 'Hollow Realm', they have toured the UK and ventured into Europe for the first time.

The band will play The Vibe Bar on Brick Lane in London on 13th Jan, then have a break until spring to concentrate on uni, jobs, and to go travelling etc.

The band will tour the UK and Europe again in April. UK promoters should contact the band's new UK agent Haydn Britland, and European promoters, hit up Manus.

The response to the album has been fantastic, with it featuring in a number of 'Best of 2010' lists including Gold Flake Paint and Musical Mathematics.

Ute to play Truck show

The band will play Oxford's O2 Academy on 15th Jan as part of the Equi Truck event (named we assume as it's equidistant between Truck 2010 and Truck 2011).

PEACE News Round-Up

Not a great amount to report with these guys, except the fact that they were in Vice magazine recently? We've only heard this through someone else, not actually seen it yet. If you've got a copy, we'd appreciate a scan.

The band spent most of autumn and winter playing a load of shows with bands like The Vaccines, Tame Impala, Magic Kids and more, so they're gonna take some time off to write. We should have new demos for you to hear maybe even as early as next week...

Stagecoach in Film Trailer!

That's right boys and girls. We alluded to this a while ago (I think).

Stagecoach have two tracks - 'Axe Behind My Back' and the single 'Map To The Freezer', taken from this year's 'Crash My Ride' EP - on the trailer for forthcoming UK comedy 'Killing Bono', distributed by Paramount.

The film has some pretty big British names in it, including Ben Barnes (most recently seen as Caspian in the Narnia films), Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead etc.) and Pete Postlethwaite (The Usual Suspects).

The trailer is being hosted exclusively on The Telegraph's web site, or you can watch our embedded version below.

Killing Bono is released in April 2011.

DiS Describe Hollow Realm as 'Album of the Year' Contender / Euro Date Added

Today was quite a momentous day at Idle Hands HQ. Something we'd been looking forward to (or rather to be honest, dreading) for quite a long time - our first Drowned In Sound review. Whilst the NME's of this world may be better for actually selling records (or not, that's another debate) Drowned In Sound is read and respected by 'proper' music fans, so a slating on there would be rather devastating.

We'd heard reports that they were enjoying the Talons record, but until we saw the review, we weren't counting any chickens.

Thankfully, they love it. Gave it 8/10, and even went as far as to describe it as a late contender for album of the year, which was bloody amazing! Read the review in full here.

In other news, the band have added another date to their forthcoming European tour.

Right then.

First things first, tonight's show with The Futureheads has been postponed to February due to the adverse weather conditions. Which is a bummer.

In slightly better news, Huw Stephens recently posted a collection of his favourite clips of BBC Introducing footage from this year's festivals, and our boys were in there, in some good company. Check it here.

In other Huw news, the band will head to Maida Vale in February to record a session for Radio 1!

Luke from the band recently completed a rather innovative 'man-off' interview against Alexei from Johnny Foreigner for Gold Flake Paint, which you can read here.

The band's EP 'Crash My Ride' joined Tall Ships' 'There Is Nothing But Chemistry Here' in some very good company indeed (and some slightly less good) in The 405's Top EPs of 2010. Which is nice. Read here.

Lastly, Maryam Hassan took photos of the band's recent London show at Camden Barfly for Punktastic. See here. She'll be doing a promo shoot of the band once the tour with Johnny Foreigner is over.

Nicholas Stevenson records Brixton Session

Following some very well-recieved shows to promote the release of debut album 'Phantom Sweetheart', Nicholas Stevenson has spent the last 10 days playing a number of shows with mega hotly tipped (and rightly so) folksters Dry The River. We were lucky enough to catch the show in Cheltenham the other night, and were delighted with the reception for Nick, and frankly blown away by Dry The River.

Back on the album tour, Nick recorded two videos for the Brixton Sessions, the morning after the album launch at the Old Blue Last. You can see them here:

Stagecoach Tour Changes

Couple of minor changes to the Stagecoach/Johnny Foreigner dates (which are going real well btw)

The Leicester date on 7th December has been cancelled.

Stagecoach will now support The Futureheads at New Slang in Kingston on 2nd December.

PEACE on The Recommender

They've got a few more bits before Christmas, but will mostly be concentrating on demoing new material.

Sorry it's been a bit quiet on the Idle Hands front lately, it's all being off and we've been having a busy time getting the Wot Gorilla? release together!

It's pulling together now, and here's a bit of an update.

I've just put the EP up for Pre Order on the Shop now, you can get it HERE.

The Artwork has been done by Adrian Dutt, and is looking pretty fantastic for sure.

To top it all off, we've had custom packaging made by Tom ACDSleeve, who is an absolutely fine man that has battled through chopping off finger tips (YES, FINGER TIPS!) to fight on and deliver our CDs for us!

The boys will have a track going out on BSM 10' this coming Monday, with a little interview with the band as well telling you about them, and some rather flattering words about us too!

Talons release 'Hollow Realm' in the UK / Euro Tour Dates

Talons have finally released their long-awaited debut album 'Hollow Realm'. You can pick up your copy now from www.bsmrocks.com

The band played what can only be described as a triumphant release show on Saturday night at the Amersham Arms in New Cross, with balloons and confetti canons as well as commissioned artworks and poems as interpretations of each album track making it a night to remember.

The fantastic debut album from Nicholas Stevenson, 'Phantom Sweetheart' is out now. He played a triumphant release show at the Old Blue Last on Sunday night, and is just rounding off his first UK tour in support of the release at the moment. Remaining dates are:
